Henry was born on May 14, 1930, in Council Bluffs, the second child to Emil Graalfs and Helen McKern. He was preceded in death by his father, Emil Henry Graalfs; his mother, Helen McKern Graalfs Stortenbecker; his stepdad, Theodore Stortenbecker; brother, Raymond Graalfs; and sister-in-law, Lola Darrington Graalfs; brother, Richard Graalfs; sister, Margaret Graalfs; son-in-law, Daniel Goertzen. He is survived by his wife, Zina Versaggi Graalfs; sister, Janet; brother-in-law, James Dargin; two daughters, Deborah Goertzen, Rebecca Schaefer; and son-in-law, Donald; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Henry graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation he joined Northern Natural Gas Company, serving in various Engineering positions with the Company. From 1957 to 1964 he was a project engineer in their Engineering Department, accountable for performance analysis of prototype equipment and installations developed for use in gathering, processing, transmissions and distribution of natural gas. In 1964 Henry was made Supervisor in the Corporate Engineering and Research Division. Then in 1971 he was appointed as Regional Director of Technical Operations, managing the design and operating functions of facilities within six states in the Minneapolis, Minn. area. He retired from Enron Corporation in December 1993 after 38 years of service. He was an active member in API, ASME and AGA. Although Henry did not actively serve in the military, he had a deep admiration and respect for all service men and women. He was an avid collector of American history books, especially WWII. He enjoyed traveling, skiing, camping, hunting and fishing. He loved to fly small aircraft and for a period would fly medical supplies around the state of Iowa and Nebraska for the American Red Cross. Henry was a member of the Covert Masonic Lodge #11 in Omaha, Neb., and attended the Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown, Texas. Obituary & Photo is from The Daily Nonpareil
