In his early teens he became an orphan and made his home with his brother, Jacob. He came to Kansas in the fall of 1877 being a few days past 21 years of age. Since that time he has resided continuously in the Glasco community. On January 26, 1886 he was united in marriage to Ida Hare. To this union were born five children all of whom together with the widow survive. They are Walter, Lawrence and Joe Sheets and Etta Halderson of Glasco, Fern Sangster of Miles City, Montana. There are eight grandchildren, John and Maxine Sheets, Howard, Roy, Ruth and Lowell Halderson, Raymond and Wayne Snagster. He is also survived by one sister Mrs. W.S. Busler of Lansdowne, Pa. There are also several nieces and nephews. He united with the Christian Church of Glasco in February, 1886. Henry was a quiet unassuming man always able to see the good traits of everyone; ever thoughtful of the comforts of his family and friends. "Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep From which none ever wakes to weep! Unbroken by the last of foes. Asleep in Jesus, O how sweet To be for such a slumber meet! With holy confidence to sing, That death hath lost his venomed sting." The funeral services, which were attended by a host of friends and neighbors, were held at the home Tuesday, April 28th, at 2 P.M. with the Rev. C.D. Gambriell officiating. Pall bearers were Mr. Louis Schmidt, Dr. W.A. Adams, Mr. J.H. Cleaver, Mr. J.D. Butler, Mr. J.S. Pitner, and Mr. G.L. Chapin. The Glasco Male Quartette composed of Mr. Will Pilcher, Mr. J.H. Cleaver, Mr. Elvin Cramer and Mr. O.F. Bearnes sang "Abide With Me," "Nearer My God to Thee," and "Rock of Ages" accompanied to Miss Mary Harper on the piano. Interment was made in the Glasco Cemetery.
