SHEETS Ida Belle Hare, daughter of D.L. and Rebecca Burk Hare, was born near Savannah, Mo., on July 1, 1865, and passed away at her home near Glasco Saturday evening, Oct. 6, 1945, aged 80 years, 3 months and 5 days. When but a child of four years, she came with her family to Kansas, where her father homesteaded a claim five miles southeast of the village of Del Ray, site of the present Glasco. On January 26, 1886, she was united in marriage to Henry N. Sheets, who preceded her in death in April of 1936, a few months following their fiftieth wedding anniversary. To this union were born five children, all of whom survive. They are Walter, Lawrence, Mrs. Elmer Halderson, and Joe, of Glasco, and Mrs. Ford Sangster of Lyons, Kansas. In addition to her immediate family, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Noah Welch of Salem, Ore., and numerous nieces and nephews remain to mourn her passing. In 1939 Mrs. Sheets suffered a serious illness, which left her an invalid for the remaining years of her life. Her patience and cheerfulness in suffering and confinement were an inspiration to those who knew her. For three-quarters of a century, Mrs. Sheets has lived and worked in this community, growing up in a family of ten brothers and sisters, attending district school, establishing her own home and raising her family. In young womanhood she united with the Christian Church of Glasco, being baptized in its faith. The history of her life is that of the pioneer mother with its hardships and its rewards. her passing takes another of the early settlers who have helped in the building of this community and will be sincerely mourned by her family and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Glasco, October 8, 1945, the pastor of the church officiating.
