Sheets, Glasco, were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 1987, at the Dean Funeral Home. Evangelist Wilford Landes, Topeka, officiated. Joseph David Sheets, the son of Henry and Ida Bell Hare Sheets, was born July 17, 1897, on a farm south of Glasco. He died June 13, 1987, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Ks., at the age of 89. Joseph grew up in the Glasco area and attended Harmony Rural School and the Glasco High School. On Dec. 20, 1936, Joe was united in marriage with Jessie Irene Yocum at the home of the bride's parents in Beloit. One daughter, Joleen, was born to this union. The couple farmed in the Glasco area for several years, and in 1951 they moved to Concordia where Joe operated the Cloud County Livestock Commission Company until retirement in 1970. In 1973, they built a new home and returned to Glasco to live. Jessie died Oct. 18, 1985. Joe greatly enjoyed his work on the farm and especially liked working with whiteface cattle. One of his favorite pastimes was going to salea and collecting antiques, and he also enjoyed entertaining people in his home. He served as president of the Cloud County Fair Board for several years. He was baptized into Christ later in life and remained faithful until his death. Survivors include his daughter, Joleen; a sister, Fern Sangster of Salina; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Walter and Lawrence, and one sister, Etta Halderson. (Continued on Page Six) Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery. Musicians were Virginia Halderson, organist; Doug and Tanya Twaddell, vocalists. Casket Bearers were Leo Adkins, Stan Schmidt, Roy Halderson Charles Sulanka, Lorn J. Schmidt and Dale Twaddell. Caring for flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Lorn Schmidt. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
