He was visiting at the John Ebbe and Max Weber homes when about ten days ago was taken seriously ill and moved to a hospital. Later his condition improved sufficiently and he returned to the Weber home but he was stricken with embolism and died last Friday. The body was brought here Sunday morning and the funeral was held Monday morning with services at St. Joseph's church. A solemn requiem mass was read by the Rev. Father Scharphoff assisted by the Rev. Father Horsefield of McGregor. Henry Schulte was born February 9, 1857, on the old Schulte homestead, a son of William and Katherine (nee Struckhoff) Schulte. He was married to Miss Delia Korte at McGregor on May 30, 1883. Mrs. Schulte preceded him in death, having died July 11, 1931. Five children blessed their union: Georgina married to Max Weber of Milwaukee, Wis.; W. Leo, married to Amelda Keehner and Harold, married to Edna Limbach, both of Garnavillo. One daughter, Marie, preceded the parents in death, as did two granddaughters, Gertrude Lueshen and Kathleen Schulte. Besides his four children, he leaves thirteen grandchildren and two brothers, Herman of Read township and John of Long Beach, Cal. Mr. Schulte was reared under the conditions which existed in the pioneer period of this counrtry. Energy and honest endeavor brought him prosperity and Pioneer Farm reflected this able management. In addition to his own faqrm work, he gave his time to public service, serving on the township board of Trustees and the Baord of Education of the Garnavillo Independent District besides holding office in various farm organizations. He was one of the organizers of the Garnavillo Telephone Co. and served as its president for over twenty years. The large attendance at the funeral from many points was a tribute of high esteem to the deceased. "Peacefully sleeping, resting at last. The world's many troubles and trials are past. In silence he suffered, Till God called him hom to suffer no more." X. Coake of McGregor; Mr. John Kramer of McGregor; Mr. and Mrs. Vic Beckett of McGregor; Mr. Woodrow Schulte of Shenandoah; Mr. and Mrs. John Ebbe and sons Marvin and John Henry and daughters Wilhelmine and Mrs. Joseph Hunt; Mr. and Mrs. Max Weber and daughter Juliene; Miss Geraldine Schulte; Mrs. Florence Thielman of Milwaukee.
