He married Mary Ann Moseman on November 24, 1961. Howard was a heavy equipment operator for Benton and Pottawattamie County Department of Roads for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Excelsior Masonic Lodge #259 AF&AM. He volunteered at Union Pacific Museum and Mercy Hospital and was an avid woodworker and enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Howard was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn E., and brother-in-law, Frank. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ann Meyer of Council Bluffs; sons, Richard Meyer and wife Becky of Council Bluffs, Michael Meyer of Millard, Neb.; granddaughters, Allie and Chloe Meyer; sister, Elizabeth Sawyer and husband George of Lincoln, Neb.; brothers, Dr. Frank Meyer and wife Maggie of Salisbury, N.C., Richard Meyer of Lincoln, Neb.; nieces and nephews. Masonic Service, Monday, 7:00 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:30 p.m. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Service, Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Pastor E. Jon Benson will officiate. Interment Garner Township Cemetery with military rites tendered by American Legion Post #2.
