Serving his first day as a relief brakeman on the Rock Island branch line to Harlan, Ia., Hoyt Forbes, 24; a former resident of Council Bluffs, now of Valley Junction, Ia., was crushed Monday morning between the couplers of two freight cars in the Harlan yards. He was rushed to the Harlan hospital, where he died. Until a year ago, Mr. Forbes had lived in Council Bluffs. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. Surviving him are his widow and a daughter, Shirley June, at home; his mother, Mrs. Doshia Forbes of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Hartenhoff, Mrs. Maude Butler, and one brother, Clarence Forbes, all of Council Bluffs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p. m. at the Cutler chapel. Davis, William Higgins and Charles Harris.
