Read More	Glasco Sun, April 27, 1944, page 1: Hulda Whilumina Berndt, daughter of Wilhelm and Louisa Berndt, was born April 17, 1876, at Saginaw, Michigan, and died April 22, 1944, at her home south of Glasco, at the age of 68 years and five days. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glasco on June 7, 1891. She was a devoted member, attending services whenever possible. She was also a charter member of the Ladies Aid. She came to Kansas with her parents in the fall of 1877 by rail as far as Solomon, then completing the journey by wagon, homesteading with her parents nine miles south of Glasco. On December 31, 1895, she was united in marriage to Otto William Horn, moving to the farm south of Glasco on the Horn homestead, later moving on the place where she had lived the past 39 years. To this union were born eight children: Letha of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Elsie Wealand of Glasco; Theodore of Albin, Wyoming; Edmund of Glasco; Sophia of the home; Lt. Harold Horn of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Marie of the home, and Mrs. Eleanor Thompson of Parris Island, South Carolina. This family circle has been broken for the first time with the passing of the Mother. Like other pioneers, she has endured many hardships. She was a tireless worker and her entire life was spent in doing for others. No task was too great for her to undertake if it meant happiness and comfort for those around her. She was also a great lover of flowers. Her father, mother, a sister, and a brother, and two granddaughters preceded her in death. Her mother preceded her in death ten years ago today, April 25, 1934. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Gene and Phyllis Wealand; Myrna, Edra, Dixie, and Barbara Horn; her three sisters and four brothers, and other numerous relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. George Eller officiating, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
