Description	:	Martha Olga Otilla Hoger was born the 29th of July 1894, the second child of Karl 'Ed' Oskar Edmund and Anna Teresia (Hoesel) Hoger in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. Martha was one of eleven (11) children. She had five brothers and five sisters. Martha went to school in Dorf, Germany walking 1/2 mile. She only attended 2 years of school there. Read More	Martha Olga Otilla Hoger was born the 29th of July 1894, the second child of Karl 'Ed' Oskar Edmund and Anna Teresia (Hoesel) Hoger in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. Martha was one of eleven (11) children. She had five brothers and five sisters. Martha went to school in Dorf, Germany walking 1/2 mile. She only attended 2 years of school there. In February 1902, the family; her parents, brothers; Edwin, Carl, Arno, and Gramdma Emilie Ottilie Hoger left from Berlin by boat to come to the United States. The ship ride to America took two to three weeks. After landing in New York in March of 1902, the trip to North Dakota was made by train. Martha went to school here until the age of 14. November 8, 1913, she married Paul Otto Reuther at her home near New Salem, North Dakota. They lived on Paul's homestead until 1946, when they moved to New Salem. Paul and Martha had 9 children: Walter, Edwin, Arno, Irma, Otto, Herbert, Wilma, Hella and Shirley. Martha Reuther NEW SALEM - Services for Martha Reuther, 94, 1120 S. Third St., Bismarck, will be held at 2 p m. MDT Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Paul Krohn officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, New Salem. She died June 20, 1989, in a Bismarck nursing home. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. CDT today at Buehler Funeral Home, Mandan, and continues after l p m. MDT Friday at Bueuler Funeral Chapel, New Salem. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Martha Hoger was born July 29, 1894, at Germany. The family moved to the United States in 1901 and settled in the Rosebud area. She was raised and educated in Morton County. She married Paul Reuther on Nov. 8, 1913, at Rosebud. They farmed in Oliver County until 1946, when they moved into New Salem. They did custodial work for Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem. Mr. Reuther died in 1961. She moved to Bismarck in 1968. She is survived by five sons; Walter, Seattle; Ervin, Jamestown; Arno, Graham, Wash; Otto, New Salem, and Herbert, Bismarck; four daughters, Mrs. Ed (Irma) Sorge, New Salem; Mrs. Roy (Wilma) Heid, Nelson, Minn; Mrs. Edwin (Hella) Keller, Bismarck and Mrs. Willard (Shirley) Davis, Lino Lakes, Minn; two sisters, Mrs. Antonia Wolf, New Salem, and Mrs. Louise Orr, Ypsilanti; 38 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
