Description	:	Israel Longley, the fifth child of William and Mary (Parker) Longley, was born on 12 October 1745 in Groton, Middlesex Co., Mass. He and his parents were among the New England Planters who came to Nova Scotia in the early 1760s. They settled on a lot in the Belisle district of Granville Township, Annapolis County. After Israel had attained the age of majority, his father relinquished his farm to Israel and returned to Massachusetts. Read More	Israel Longley, the fifth child of William and Mary (Parker) Longley, was born on 12 October 1745 in Groton, Middlesex Co., Mass. He and his parents were among the New England Planters who came to Nova Scotia in the early 1760s. They settled on a lot in the Belisle district of Granville Township, Annapolis County. After Israel had attained the age of majority, his father relinquished his farm to Israel and returned to Massachusetts. Israel married Anna, daughter of Isaac and Rachel (Beal) Kent, on 30 September 1770 in Granville Township. They were married by the Anglican Rev. Thomas Wood. Israel and Anna had the following children: Isaac (born 1771), Anna (b. 1773), William (b. 1775), Asaph (b. 1776), Israel (b. 1780), Diadama (b. 1782), Christina (b. 1785), Elizabeth (b. 1787), Lucy (b. 1789) and Wesley (b. 1794). Israel was one of the grantees of Wilmot Township, when that section of Annapolis County was opened up in 1777. He and his family settled at a place in the new township called Paradise. Israel Longley died in Annapolis County, N.S. on 16 September 1824, ‘suddenly' according to a history of the Longley family.
