Read More	Doug Goodman, Council Bluffs, age 62, passed away September 10, 2018 in Council Bluffs. Doug was born on August 29, 1956 in Council Bluffs to the late John R. Goodman and Frances (Boege). He was united in marriage with Deb Bryson in May of 1981. Doug graduated from Abraham Lincoln in 1974. He started working at Council Bluffs Savings Bank (CBSB) the day after his high school graduation. He received his Associate's degree from Iowa Western Community College, Bachelor's degree from Buena Vista University and Master's degree from Creighton University, all while working full-time. He worked at CBSB (later FirstStar) for 19 years; he was a partial owner of People's National Bank where he rose to the position of President. He retired in 2012 after 38 years of banking as Market President of American National Bank. After a brief retirement, he became a co-owner and manager of Clear Title and Abstract, LLC. Doug was an active volunteer in the community and received numerous awards. He was most recently serving as the President of the Iowa Western Community College Board of Trustees, Iowa West Foundation Board of Directors (heading the Investment Advisory Committee), founding member of the Pottawattamie County Development Corporation (later 712 Initiative), treasurer of the Southwest Iowa Educational Foundation, treasurer of the Henry K. Peterson Foundation, Dream Playground Steering Committee, member of the CHI Health Metro Community Board, and a member of Rotary. He was a member of the Charter Class of Leadership Council Bluffs and was honored as the Alumni of the Year 2011. He was named Iowa Western Community College's 2012 Outstanding Alumnus, and was admitted into the Westfair Hall of Fame in 2012. He, along with his wife, have chaired events such as Iowa Western Black Tie Harvest for Scholarships, CHI Mercy Hospital Heritage Dinner, Lutheran Family Services Wicker and Wine, Heartland Family Service Strike A Chord (also being recognized as Leadership Family in 2004). In 2007 he was the Grand Marshal for the Celebrate CB parade, being honored as Co-chair of the Rebuild Bayliss Park Fundraising Project. He was a member of the Council Bluffs Community Schools- A Penny for the Kids Campaign. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters Carol & Cheryl Goodman; sister, Debbie (Goodman) Swisher; brother, Craig Goodman, and in-laws Cliff and Shirley Bryson.
