DEATH HAS CLAIMED A FAMILIAR FIGURE End Comes to Jabez, Following Long Illness The suffering of 18 months of invalidism came to a close for Jabez Paxston at his home in Seneca at 11:16 P. M. Saturday night, November 21, closing the life of a man who had been actively engaged in hardware and associated occupations in Seneca for many years. Mr. Paxston was an employee of the late A. L. L. Scoville for no less than 23 years. Jabez and twin brother, John, good mechanics, were known in every part of the county where they were frequently seen in pump and windmill work, well drilling and house moving. Jabez came to Kansas 55 years ago. For 16 years the family home has been in east Seneca. In his more active years he was a member of the Seneca fire department. The subject of this sketch was born on February 4, 1859 at Rome, in Henry county, Iowa. This made his age at death, 77 years, 9 months and 17 days. He was united in marriage to Amanda May Huff at Marysville on October 29, 1895. He is survived by Mrs. Paxston; by four daughters, Mrs. Ralph B. Clowe, Marysville; Mrs. Orville G. Clowe, Vernon, Texas; Mrs. Edwin Gaiser and Mrs. H. A. Brychta, Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Clinton and Frank of Moravia, Iowa and Hagar of Sheridan, Wyoming; one sister, Mrs. Norah Blaricombe, Murrayville, Illinois. When the call went out to the children that their father was passing, all were able to drop their daily tasks, return to their old home and be with their mother when the end came. The funeral service is to be held at the Congregational church in Seneca Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Charles A. Richard. Interment will be in Seneca cemetery.
