Another way-worn pilgrim on life’s highway was laid to rest last Sunday afternoon in Prairie Gem cemetery. Mrs. Wolcott, wife of John Wolcott, living seven miles southwest of Aurora passed peacefully away March 30, after a brief but severe illness of scarcely two weeks, the immediate cause of death being pneumonia. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. A. G. McVay. A large crowd of neighbors and friends assembled to pay a last tribute of love and respect to one who has resided in the community twenty... She was a kind loving wife, mother and sister, whose absence will be greatly felt by her loved ones. Elizabeth Jane Paxton was born Dec. 17, 1861, at Rome, Henry county, Ill. She came to Nebraska in 1882, was married to John Wolcott Sept. 17, 1885. Joined the U. B. church in 1894. Died March 30, 1904, at 11:30 a. m. She leaves a husband, four children, two sisters and six brothers in sad bereavement. Two brothers who reside in Kansrs were present at the funeral. ----------------- From “Aurora Sun”, Aurora, Nebraska dated Saturday, September 26, 1885: A very quiet wedding took place this morning at the residence and by Rev. Swan, Mr. John Wolcott and Miss Jennie Paxton. Mr. Wolcott is a resident of St. Joe this county.
