H.A. Crum with burial in the Rudd cemetery. Mr. Turner was born Aug. 4, 1832 in Pennsylvania and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Daniel Dean in Nora Springs Wednesday. H.A. Crum with burial in the Rudd cemetery. Mr. Turner was born Aug. 4, 1832 in Pennsylvania and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Daniel Dean in Nora Springs Wednesday. He grew to manhood in Illinois and was married Oct 14, 1862, to Margaret Cline in Boone county, Ill. To this union five children were born: Mrs. Daniel Dean, Nora Springs; Mrs. James Dunn, Scenic, S.Dak; Mrs. L. Stich, Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and two sons, Howard and Simeon. Mr. Turner served thru the Civil war with the Eighth Illinois cavalry, Co. L., with which he saw a great deal of service. Co. L was a crack company and soldiers in it were called "Lincoln's Favorites." Mr. Turner was in Ford's theater, Washington, the night Lincoln was assassinated. He came to Iowa about 60 years ago, then went on west to Sioux Falls 40 years ago, returning to Nora Springs and making his home with Mrs. Dean the past six years. He is survived by the three daughters, one brother, Jerry Turner, Kirkland, Ill., 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
