Description	:	Like many men of his time period, James left his family to answer the call of his country. He was the first person in Decatur County to sign up to serve (at the age of 18) under the direction of his father, Hobart, who was in charge of the draft. James served his country from 1942-1945 as a Corporal in the US Air Corps. He served as an air traffic controller for the 1st Flying Control Squadron attached to the 1st P51 Fighter Group. He was the first person in Decatur County to sign up to serve (at the age of 18) under the direction of his father, Hobart, who was in charge of the draft. James served his country from 1942-1945 as a Corporal in the US Air Corps. He served as an air traffic controller for the 1st Flying Control Squadron attached to the 1st P51 Fighter Group. After the invasion, James was attached to the 3rd Battalion while stationed in France, Germany and England. James was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and also enjoyed farming. As a local businessman, he owned and operated Goff Motor Co. in Parsons and later Sugar Tree Marina on Morgan Creek. James was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Gladys Goff; his wife, Lyndall Bateman Goff; and two brothers, Jack and Billy Goff. He leaves a son, Frank Randall Goff (Juanita); and daughters, Susan Ann Goff and Kay Goff King (Richard). He was the grandfather of Susy Houston, Wendy Arnold (John), Amy Houston Karrigan (Kris), Leann Goff, Matthew Logan King and the great-grandfather of Hayley Horner Maness (Ryan), Jared Arnold, Luke Goff, and Madison, McKenna and Mason Karrigan
