Description	:	Jane Nims, an old resident of Deer Creek Township southwest of Emerson, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Zaelke, Friday morning January 11. She had been rapidly failing in health about Thanksgiving time and was confined to her bed since the Saturday preceding her death. Six grandsons, Clyde Knight, of Cairo, Nebraska, Everly Knight of Central City, Nebraska, Kenneth Shaw of Shenandoah, Ray and Dwight Shaw of emerson, and Dale Nims of Strahan, serves as pall bearers. Burial was in the Malvern Cemetery by the side of her husband who preceded her in death in 1906. Jane Ann Levi was born in Quebec, Canada, November 6, 1851, a daughter of James and Ellen Levi. She was married to Dwight B. Nims and in 1874 they moved to Mills county locating on a the farm southwest of Emerson in the Asbury neighborhood where they made their home and raised their family. Here they helped found the Asbury Methodist Church and always took an active part in its services. here they became very effective part of the community also. Mr. Nims died in 1906 and in 1909, Mrs. Nims moved to Red Oak which has since been her home where she became an active member of the Red Oak Methodist Church. Mrs. Nims is survived by three daughters, two sons, 29 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister, and five brothers. The surviving children are: Mrs. Mary Zaelke, Red Oak, Mrs. Edna Knight, Chapman, Nebraska, Mrs. Charles Shaw, Emerson, Iowa, Henry J. Nims, Strahan, and Archie D. Nims, Hollywood, California. The surviving sisters and brothers are Mrs. Margaret Nims, Red Oak, James Levi, Spokane, Washington, william Levi, Pasadena, California, David Levi, Gravity, Oliver Levi, Colorado, Frank Levi, Adel, Iowa and Charles Levi, Des Moines, Iowa. One daughter, Mrs. Cora Nims, died at Emerson in 1901. Mrs. Nims was a good woman, a kind and loving mother, and a faithful friends. Of such stock were our pioneer mothers.
