The attendance in large numbers, of the friends and relatives from the Delphos and Glasco communities, and the profusion of flowers attested the friendship and high esteem in which the deceased was held by the people of both communities. Because of the great distance, the sister, Mrs. Smyth of California, was unable to be present. The brother, Mr. C.F. Willars, and Mrs. Willars of Monument, Kansas were present. The Odd Fellows attended the funeral in a body, serving as pall bearers, and had charge of the service at the cemetery. The Pilcher quartet from Glasco rendered splendid music. Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery. JARED SHELLY WILLARS Jared Shelly Willars was born in Ashton, Lee County, Illinois, September 15, 1875, and departed this life in Delphos, April 30, 1932, at the age of 56 years, 7 months and 15 days. He came to Kansas with his parents in 1881 and settled on a farm 10 miles north east of Glasco, where he grew to manhood. In March 1898 he was united in marriage with Ida Rosella Gates. To this union was born one son, Lloyd Alvin Willars of Delphos. The couple began housekeeping on a farm north-east of Glasco and lived in that community until 1913 when they moved to the farm north-east of Delphos. They worked together and prospered. Later Mrs. Willars health failed and they traveled in the south and west in an effort to regain her health. They returned in 1922 and built a home in Concordia where they lived until Mrs. Willars' death, May 17, 1923. Upon the death of his companion, he came to live with his son, with whom he has made his home ever since. Lloyd's wife, Meyrle, has been the same as his own daughter to him throughout the years he spent in their home. On July 25, 1924 he became a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Glasco. His membership was transferred to the Delphos Lodge August 13, 1931. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, a man who was respected and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by one son, L.A. Willars of Delphos, a sister, Mrs. G. D. Smyth of Belleflower, California; a brother, C.F. Willars of Monument, Kansas, and one grandson. Also a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
