Ledger Friday March 7, 1969 Pg.8 Col. 6 Mrs. Parkin, 72, Taken In Death Mrs. W. S. Parkin, 72, 903 S. Main St., died Thursday at 2:05 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital after a serious illness of six weeks. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge of Dr. C. R. Douglass. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Parkin was a retired school teacher. She had been a resident of Fairfield since 1923. The former Pearle Park, she was born July 15, 1896 at Little Sioux, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Hanna Careless Park. She was married to William S. Parkin June 15, 1918. Mrs. Parkin was a graduate of Moulton High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. A teacher for 26 years, she began her career in Harrison County. She also taught in Jefferson County rural schools, Pleasant Plain, Packwood and New London. Mrs. Parkin is survived by her husband and two sons: William L. Parkin, Washington, D.C.; and Robert D. Parkin, Fairfield. Six grandchildren also survive. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine and Rebekah Lodge. Two sisters preceded her in death.
