Description	:	Mrs August Schaper, 72, a longtime resident of this community, passed away suddenly Saturday morning about 9:30 o'clock following a heart attack at her home. She had not been ill previously. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the St John's Lutheran church with the Rev G H Perlich in charge, preceded by prayer services at the home. Interment was in St John's cemetery. Mrs Schaper was born Johanna Hennies on September 14, 1877 at Hanover, Germany the daughter of August Hennies and Johanna Funke. She was baptized at the Lutheran church in Hanover. She came with her family to America when she was two years of age and the family located on a farm south of State Center. She was confirmed in St John's church on Palm Sunday 1890. She was united in marriage to August Schaper on February 14, 1895 at St John's Church. The couple were the parents of five children, 3 of whom died in infancy. Mr and Mrs Schaper lived on a farm in the French Grove neighborhood until his retirement in 1919 when they moved to State Center. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, August W Schaper and a daughter, Mrs Amanda Fehrle, both of State Center; five grandchildren; 2 brothers, William and Albert Hennies of Marshalltown; and two sisters, Mrs Hilda Hunzelman of St Anthony and Mrs Emma Thake of State Center.
