Read More	ANDERSON, JOHN ALLEN SR.—John Allen Anderson was born at Morris, Minn., on October 2, 1912. He was the third child of Estella Swanson Anderson and John Andrew Anderson. He joined his two sisters Ruth and Gladys, sister, Vera, was born a few years later. In 1918, the family moved to Exeter. They were there for a few years and Johnnie began school. The family moved to Lawrence, Kan., before returning to Nebraska. The flat farmland in Nebraska was a drawing point for Johnnies’ dad. The family moved to Fairmont into the Nichols place a mile and a half west of Hwy 81 and two miles south of Hwy 6. The move to the Aldrich farm, a mile west was where they lived the longest—the home place. Johnnie attended country school until eighth grade and town high school until 10th grade. He enjoyed outdoor activities, sports, and animals. He was active in helping his father on the farm. John married Viola Delores Ransdell on the evening of December 24, 1936, and they moved in with his parents on the farm. In the spring his parents moved to town, and they farmed the home place for over 40 years. They raised their two sons, John and Gene, on the farm and had a close active family. They did many things together as a family and were involved in their community and in their church. Johnnie was a lay leader in the church, and was also active in the Fillmore County Feeders Association, the Odd fellows, the Co-op Elevator board (four years as president) and the school board. Hospitality was a way of life for Johnnie and Vi. They entertained family, friends, church speakers, and traveling missionaries. Johnnie and Vi were active in the Methodist church for many years. When they retired in 1977, they moved into their own home in Fairmont. In their retirement years, they golfed, traveled, and took pride in their yard and gardens. They attended the Evangelical Free Church in Geneva for a few years. In 1996, when they moved to North Gate Garden Estates in Lincoln, they attended Oak Lake. In the spring of 2001, because of hip surgery, Johnnie and Viola moved from Lincoln to Meadow Woods Assisted Living in Bloomington, Minn. One year later, after 65 years of being together, Viola, because of failing health and mobility, moved to Martin Luther Manor nursing home. Johnnie was faithful to walk the enclosed block-long passageway to be with her three or more times each week until September 2004, when she went to be with her Lord. In January of 2006, Johnnie was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was then that he moved to Martin Luther Manor. Johnnie is survived by his two sons and their wives, John and Jodene, and Gene and Glenda, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. John and Jodene have three children, David, Jim and Janna. Gene and Glenda have two children—Cindy and Kristen. David and wife, Camie are the parents of John and Lauren. Jim and wife, Sherry are the parents of Brad, Jeff, and Travis Phillips, and Connor, Madison and Jamie. Cindy and husband, Harry Allen, are the parents of Jenora and Adria. Also surviving him is his sister, Vera Clark and her husband, Glenn, and many nieces and nephews. Johnnie went to be with his Lord in the early morning hours of June 17, 2006. We will miss him greatly, but are assured of his being in the presence of Jesus, where “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24 from the Fairmont Community Church with Rev. Dr. Raponzel Drake officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Greg Rehm who sang “His Eye is on the Sparrow” and “The King is coming.” Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.” Serving as casket bearers were Leroy Klipp, Bill Jacobsen, Jack Jacobsen, Duane Lott, Steve Miles, Jim Anderson and David Anderson.
