Description	:	John C. Sell, son of Conrad and Margaret Sell, was born in Chester, Nebr., December 19, 1898. He attended St. John's School and was confirmed in 1910 while Dr. A.J. Soldan was pastor and teacher. During his high school years he worked in the Chester drugstore. He graduated from Chester High School with the Class of 1917. Sell, son of Conrad and Margaret Sell, was born in Chester, Nebr., December 19, 1898. He attended St. John's School and was confirmed in 1910 while Dr. A.J. Soldan was pastor and teacher. During his high school years he worked in the Chester drugstore. He graduated from Chester High School with the Class of 1917. After attending Babcock Institute of Pharmacy in Des Moines, Ia., he became a registered pharmacist in May 1918. John worked in a Superior drugstore, then managed a Kenesaw drugstore until he received a call to serve the United States Army. On Nov. 19, 1918 he purchased the Chester drugstore. On June 4, 1919 he married Verna Mae Walker. To this union were born three children, Nadine Mae who passed away in infancy, Jack Vernon and Donna Lee. Mr. Sell united with the Chester Christian Church on Feb. 13, 1942. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Masonic Lodge 298, the Scottish Rite, the American Polled Hereford Assn., American Hereford Assn., Blue Valley Hereford Assn., Nebraska Pharmaceutical Assn., and the Chester Community Club. He was always active in church, school and community service. Mr. Sell departed to his heavenly home on November 17, 1968 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his baby daughter; his parents; two brothers, Conrad and David; two sisters, Anne Poppe and Katie Kuhlman (sic). Survivors include his wife, Verna; children, Mr. and Mrs. Jack V. Sell and Mr. and Mrs. James A. Burroughts; grandchildren, Joy and Jill Foust; a brother, George G. Sell; and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 20, at the Chester Church of Christ, conducted by Dennis Davenport, minister. Singers were Mrs. Wilbert Crouse and Mrs. Dennis Davenport with Mrs. Harold Crouse organist. Pallbearers were Harold Crouse, Lee Larkins, Walter Torring, Clarence Palmer, Clay Davenport and Earnest Dunn. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge.
