Read More	The death of John Clinton James when he had not passed the half-way milestone of life's journey, was very sad. During his short illness many relatives and friends were deeply concerned about him and wanted to help him. They hoped until the very last day that by some sort of a miracle that he might rally and be spared when his wife and children needed him so much. It was hard for him to go and leave them. They will miss his protection and kindly companionship more than they can now realize. John Clinton James, son of Mary and John James was born in Exeter township, Nov. 23, 1904, and passed away at 7:20 o'clock Sunday evening, April 26, 1936, at the Clay Center Municipal hospital as a result of pneumonia, after an illness of eleven days. Clinton was 31 years, 5 months and 3 days old. All his life with the exception of two years, was spent in his home community. He was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Wells, Nov. 3, 1926, and to this union seven children were born, one preceding him in death in infancy. He leaves to mourn his going his beloved wife and six small children, Leland, Warren, Ione, Louis, Loree and Clayton. His aged father and mother, five brothers and two sisters, Emmett, Dean, Ira, Clifford, Elmo, Dorothy, and Leola. Many relatives and a host of friends and neighbors. Clinton possessed a cheerful and happy disposition and to know him was to love him. He was a good neighbor, a kind friend and a loving father and husband. He took an active part in the affairs of the community and always worked for the interest of the community as a whole. We can not understand why one so young in the prime of life should be called from our midst, but God's will is always best and sometime we will understand. The Wesleyan Methodist church at Bethany Chapel was the church of his choice. Funeral services were held at the home of his father, John James, at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon and at the Bethany church at 1:30 o'clock conducted the Rev. Dunbar, pastor of the Bethany church, assisted by Rev. Coates, former pastor. The quartet, composed of Mrs. Willard Lloyd, Miss Irene Huges, Rama Hughes and Orren Todd, sang, "The City Four Square," and "Will the Circle be Unbroken," and "Shall We Gather at the River," accompanied by Mrs. Bert Lloyd. The pall bearers, cousins of the deceased, were Raymond James, Everett James, Charley James, Charlye Craig, Richard Ford and Harold Macey. The large attendance at the service and the profusion of lovely flowers were eloquent expressions of love and sympathy. Burial was made in Bethany Cemetery.
