Prior to entering a nursing home here two years ago, he had lived at 1011 Division street. Born on a farm homesteaded by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Downey in the Sumner area, Mr. Downey had lived south of town most of his life where he was a farmer for many years. He had lived in Atchison since his retirement. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Otto (Rosella) Herzog of St. Joe and a stepson, Oscar Wagner of Kansas City, Kas. His second [sic-first] wife was the former Mrs. Pollyanna [sic-Polly Anna] Wagner, who preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Stanton chapel with Brother Henry Hundertmark of Jehovah Witnesses officiating. Burial will be in Sumner cemetery."
