Born in Granville Ferry, he was a son of the late Bamford and Doris (Gregory) Miller. Jack worked with Chas. Dargies & Son Furniture Store for 27 years, retiring as manager/president. Read More	MILLER, John Gregory "Jack" ~ The family is saddened to announce the passing of John Gregory "Jack" Miller, age 84, of Granville Ferry, on February 26, 2008, in Northhills Nursing Home, Granville Ferry. Born in Granville Ferry, he was a son of the late Bamford and Doris (Gregory) Miller. Jack worked with Chas. Dargies & Son Furniture Store for 27 years, retiring as manager/president. His work at Dargies included being the funeral director of Chas Dargies Funeral Home. Later he moved on as funeral director with Robert L. Hall Funeral Home for 10 years in Annapolis Royal and Bridgetown. He was a representative for Heritage Memorials and secretary-treasurer for Woodlawn Cemetery Company for 14 years. He was a member of the Maritime Travelers Association, former volunteer fireman in Annapolis Royal, a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church, Bridgetown Curling Club and Order of Good Cheer, and was a past president of the Granville Ferry School Association. Jack loved to play cards, bridge and 45's with his friends and neighbours. He took great pride in his garden over the years and enjoyed giving his produce away to family and friends. Fishing was one of his favourite pastimes, always protecting his secret fishing spot somewhere in South Milford. His passion was sports, in particular, hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jack was a proud member of the Liberal Party. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and the telling of a good joke. Jack is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. (Abbott) of 53 years; daughters, Anne (Gary) Weir of Granville Ferry, Valerie (Julian) Lomanski of Surrey, B.C.; Laura Miller of Halifax, Jackie (Gary) Ross of Fall River, and son, John (Anne) Miller of Herring Cove; cherished grandchildren, Dennis and Adam Weir of Granville Ferry, Kelly (Adam) Gillis of Moschelle, Michael and Jennifer Lomanski of Surrey, B.C.; Sarah Wilkie of Calgary, Gregory Wilkie of Halifax, Ian Ross of Whistler, B.C.; Colin Ross of Halifax; Jeremy, Chad and Conner Miller of Herring Cove; his only great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Gillis of Moschelle; brother, Ed (Alvina) Miller of Weymouth; sisters, Anita Hills of Moncton; Gladys (Eugene) Chipman of Kentville; Mary (Granville) Thompson of Kingston, Emma Buchanan of Truro, Patsy (Russell) MacKintosh of Granville Ferry, and numerous nephews and nieces across Canada. He was predeceased by brothers, Stephen, Warren and George; sisters, Harriett Cosman and Dorothy Cleveland. There will be no visitation by Jack's request. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with Canon Kenneth Vaughan officiating.
