About a week ago Mr. Sutton was driving a truck loaded with logs, and in some manner he lost control and the truck ran off on a pier and did not stop until one of the planks on the pier gave way. This caused the logs to roll off and several of them rolled over him in the accident. Mr. Sutton managed to re-load the truck and then return to his home. It was not known until a few days later that he was injured, as he went about as usual. When he began to suffer he was immediately taken to a hospital, and it was found necessary to operate at once. He succumbed during the operation. Mr. Sutton was the son of the late Robert Beverly and Lucy Roane Sutton of King and Queen County and had made his home in this locality all his life. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Thornton Sutton; three daughters, Elizabeth Sutton, instructor in the public schools of Covington; Miss Marjorie Sutton, who is in training as a nurse in the Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, and Miss Rosalind Sutton, of Plainview, and one son, John Sutton, of Plainview. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Robert Franklin Heywood, of Bena; Mrs. J. A. Burton, of Urbanna, and Mrs. R. Tyler Bland, of West Point, and two brothers, Robert A. Sutton and William B. Sutton, of Plainview. Funeral services will be held in Shacklefords Methodist Church, the Rev. W. T. A. Haynes, D.D., pastor, conducting the services, assisted by the Rev. S. L. Lacy, pastor of the First Baptist Church of West Point, the Rev. S. G. Davis, pastor of the Methodist Church of West Point, and the Rev. Harry L. Corr, pastor of Newington Baptist Church of Gloucester. Interment will be in the family plot adjoining the church. The hour of the funeral had not been set yesterday, but it will be held Friday.
