He was a member of the Double Springs Baptist Church and of the Woodmen camp at the American Spinning Company. His wife, Mrs. Victoria Callaway Center, survives him, together with three daughters, Mrs. Marie Hart, Miss Vera Center and Miss Thelma Center, all of Greenville. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. John Moon of Taylors, and a brother, Furman Center of the Sandy Flat section, Greenville County. Center, of 409 Paris Mountain Road, will be held from the Morgan Memorial Baptist Church this afternoon at 4 o'clock, the Rev. J.M. Trogdon officiating and assisted by the Rev. J. Dean Crain. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. The following will serve as active pallbearers: G.C. Batson, T.C. Batson, T.L. Leopard, T.E. Heaton, G.W. Timms and W.M. Moon. The following members of Magnolia Camp 207, W.O.W., will act as honorary escort: J.A. Alton, W.M. Kirksey, G.H. Reeves, E.C. Scott, E.W. Pike and N.L. Bagwell. The death of Mr. Center occured at a local hospital at 9:10 o'clock Thursday morning following a short illness. Mr. Center had been a lifelong resident of Greenville County, and for the past 27 years had been an employee of the American Spinning Company. He was well known in that community, and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the Double Springs Baptist Church and of Magnolia Camp 207, Woodmen of the World at the American Spinning Company. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Victoria Callaway Center; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Hart, Misses Vera and Thelma Center, all of Greenville; his Father and Mother, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Center of Taylors; one sister, Mrs. John Moon of Taylors, and a brother, Furman Center of the Sandy Flat section, Greenville County. The body of Mr. Center is at the residence pending the hour of the service.
