Description	:	The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, February 14, 1924; pg. 1 John Mosshart was born in Tuscaraway (sic) county (sic), Ohio, May 5, 1842 where he grew to young manhood and passed away February 1st, 1924, aged 81 years 8 months and 27 days. In December 1861 he was enlisted as a private in Company K 80th Regt. Ohio Infantry and was mustered out June 15th 1865 on expiration of term of enlistment. To this union were born four children, Miss Olive Alkire of Drumright, Okla., E.C. Mosshart of Manhattan, Kans., Miss Alice Mosshart of Enid and Charles Joseph who died in 1903 at the age of 22 years. There were also five grandchildren all living, Ralph and Otto Alkire, Donald, Ivan and Roger Mosshart. Mr. and Mrs. Mosshart were among the sturdy pioneers who homesteaded in Republic county (sic), Kansas, June 1880 and occupied their homestead until January 1904. Since that time Mr. Mosshart spent the greater part of his time at Eldorado, Kansas and Enid. He was confirmed in the Moravian church at Roarigiville (sic), Ohio, when a boy and later united with the Methodist Episcopal church while living on the old homestead. The funeral was held in the Christian church (sic) at Chester, Nebr., and the service was conducted by Rev. Handel Collier, pastor of the M.E. church (sic). Interment was in Chester cemetery (sic).
