Description	:	JOHN PATRICK DUFFY ACCIDENT VICTIM The community was saddened by the tragic death Sunday morning of John Patrick Duffy which followed an automobile accident on the County Line road, shortly after 1 o’clock Sunday morning. Russell Wiley, Jr., was driving Thomas Walsh and Duffy to their homes north-east of Brownsburg when the accident occurred. Read More	JOHN PATRICK DUFFY ACCIDENT VICTIM The community was saddened by the tragic death Sunday morning of John Patrick Duffy which followed an automobile accident on the County Line road, shortly after 1 o’clock Sunday morning. Russell Wiley, Jr., was driving Thomas Walsh and Duffy to their homes north-east of Brownsburg when the accident occurred. Walsh had left the car at his home and Wiley had driven north on the intersecting road about 300 feet when suddenly on a rough stretch of roadway, the car began to swerve and left the road, crashing into a utility pole. It is believed that in some manner the right front brake locked, throwing the car completely out of control. The impact broke the pole which fell across the car, crushing the top down. Wiley only slightly injured got out of the car and with great presence of mind took a stick of wood and moved the high tension wires carrying 2300 volts of electricity over to a wire fence, grounding the current. He then ran to the Hammock home, a half mile away for help. Gordon Hammock returned to the scene of the accident with Wiley and together they placed the injured youth in the Hammock car and took him to a physician’s office and then to the Robert Long Hospital where he died at 11 o’clock Sunday morning without regaining consciousness. Death resulting from as skull fracture and hemorrhage of the brain. John Patrick Duffy, age 18 years was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Duffy and was a life-long resident of the community. Besides the parents, he is survived by a brother, Thomas Leo Duffy and one sister, Mrs. Mary Catherine Wethington and a grandmother Mrs. Cass Hogan, grandfather, Cass Hogan. Funeral services were conducted a 9 o’clock Wednesday morning from St. Malachy’s Church here. Father Meinrad Rouck officiating. Burial was made in St. Malachy’s cemetery.
