Description	:	Wenatchee World Brewster John D. Ross, 70, a longtime resident of Brewster, passed away Sunday, April 24, 1999, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, due to complications following open heart surgery. He was born Jan. 23, 1929 in Republic, the son of Frank and Maria Ross. John graduated from Republic High School. On Dec. 24, 1946, he married Carol Jean Venneberg. They moved to Brewster in 1949 where John was a grocer for 30 years. In 1981, he married June Humborg. John retired from the grocery business to become a full time orchardist. Ross, 70, a longtime resident of Brewster, passed away Sunday, April 24, 1999, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, due to complications following open heart surgery. He was born Jan. 23, 1929 in Republic, the son of Frank and Maria Ross. John graduated from Republic High School. On Dec. 24, 1946, he married Carol Jean Venneberg. They moved to Brewster in 1949 where John was a grocer for 30 years. In 1981, he married June Humborg. John retired from the grocery business to become a full time orchardist. John will be remembered for his generosity during the years he sponsored Little League teams, band, school and sports activities. He was an honorary member of the American Legion Post #97 where he was known for his commitment and dedication. John enjoyed collecting model trains and playing cards with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, June at the home; three daughters, Sue Ellen Bell and her husband, Eugene of Portland, OR; Mari Lynn Romero of Seattle; Janis Cloakey and her husband, George of Vancouver WA; two sons, Don Ross of Dayton, OH; Doug Ross of Cheney; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a brother, Frank of Spokane; three sisters, Ella Farris and Rose Studley, both of Republic; Mary Munson of Spokane; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol and four sisters. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, April 29, 1999 at 11 a.m. from Barnes Chapel, Brewster, with Donn Plew, officiating. Committal service and interment to follow at the Brewster Cemetery with the American Legion Post #97 participating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. The casket will remain closed at the service. Memorials may be made in his name to a charity of your choice. Services under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
