Mr. Jones is one of Hand county's young and prosperous farmers, and son of Richard Jones. Miss Wade is the daughter of A. W. Wade, and both young people are quite well known here. Jones Rites Held Monday Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 0'clock for J.E. (Eldon) Jones, who died Thursday, September 12 at Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Services were held at the Reck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Wieduwilt officiating. Burial was in the GAR Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Stanley Conkey, Chester, Harold, Albert, Joe and Dannie Jones. Serving in honorary capacity were James and Ray Magness, Jack Slater, Charlie Conerton, Dick Ward, Harold Carr, William Pautsch, Ronnie Kallsen, Carl Johanson and Howard Snodgrass. A resident of the county since the age of three months, Mr. Jones was born in Holy Well, Wales, January 15, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jones. When he was six weeks old his parents left Wales for the United States, and three months old when they settled on a homestead in Gilbert township. He spent almost his entire life on the home farm, moving to Miller a few years ago when he retired from active farming. He was very active in community affairs, and was in charge of all activities at Gilbert-York Community Hall. He was a deacon of the Beulah Church. He became quite well known in the state, as he attended many pioneer events with his team of trained oxen. Bessie and Duke, which he drove on a rubber tired cart, and, and enjoyed entering them in all the centennial parades. While a young man, attending college at Brookings, he moved houses with horses, and also worked in a cafe. Following the death of his mother, he and his father made their home together on the farm, and June 6, 1908 he was married to Blanche Wade. They reared a family of three sons and one daughter, and also a grandson, Darrel. For the past year and a half he had been a resident of Prairie Center Rest Home. Surviving are two sons, Leslie and Maurice, both of Spokane, and one daughter, Mrs. Melvina Woods, Bremerton, Wash., six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. One son, Leo Clement Jones, lost his life in action during World War Two. His wife, parents and one son preceded him in death.
