Driscoll Joseph Kirkland Driscoll, the youngest son of Cornelius and Mary Sullivan Driscoll, was born May 16, 1873 (year differs from stone), in Danville, Illinois. He departed this life in Glasco, Kansas, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 22 days. Joe, along with his parents, four brothers and two sisters, moved west from Illinois in 1877, to a farm located one-half mile west of Fairview school house. He attended subscription schooling at Fairview. He was united in marriage to Harriet Luella Wright on November 6, 1901, and to this union three children were born: Mary Sylvia, Michael and Frances. Joe spent the early years of his life farming in the Prairie Point community. He was active in local affairs, always striving for the improvement of his community. During his later years he and his wife moved to Glasco where he operated his own produce company. Joe was a great sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and basketball, and in his earlier years organized and managed his own baseball team. Friends and neighbors will always remember Joe as having a kind and congenial personality with a friendly greeting for everyone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett Luella, who died December 16, 1940, and is survived by his three children, Mary Sylvia Everley, Glasco; Michael R. Driscoll, Concordia; and Frances Lucille Neff, Wichita; and seven grandchildren, Captain A.L. Everley, Virginia Ellis, Larry Lee Neff, Tommy Lynn Neff and Marilyn Newall, all of Wichita; Jolene Norton and Michael Douglas Driscoll of Concordia; and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Glasco Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Sept. 9th, at 3:00 o'clock. Officiating were Rev. John Baker and Rev. Tom Davis. Music was by the Methodist Quartet accompanied by Mrs. W.E. Miller at the organ. Casketbearers were Junior Neff, Bob Rogers, Roy Thrasher, Ervin Teasley, Edward Brown and Harold Liby. Honorary casketbearers were Purl Bailey, Frank Steele, Ray Fetters, William Felt, Theodore Liby, Cecil Martin, W.F. Yenni, and Fred Copper. Flowers were cared for by Marian Brown, Ruby Teasley, and Reva Liby. Interment was in Glasco cemetery with Haley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
