Read More	LINGLE, Joseph William Denison Review Friday, September 13, 2002 Joseph William Lingle was born July 19, 1932, the son of John Howard and Edith Wilhemina Paulson Lingle. He died in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at the age of seventy. Bill was born in Battle Creek, Iowa and received his education at the Denison Community Schools and graduated from the Denison High School. After completing his education Bill entered the United States Navy on July 19, 1952, serving his country on the USS Bennington. He received his honorable discharge on January 13, 1955, having received a Navy Occupation Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Nation Defense Service Medal. On August 24, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to Florence Elaine Henningsen at Immanual Lutheran Church in Schleswig. The couple settled on a farm in Crawford County until moving to Denison in 1964. Bill, "Willie" to his friends had been a resident in Des Moines for the past thirty years. He lived in a home owned by Bill Pangburn, where he worked doing maintenance jobs. In his leisure time, Bill loved hunting, fishing, and tinkering with cars. Bill also enjoyed music, playing the trumpet when he was in high school and various dance bands. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Andrew Lingle in 1999. Survivors include two daughter, Laurie Lingle and Linda Dick, both of Denison; three grandchildren; one brother, Robert Lingle and his wife Barbara of Denison; a niece and two nephews. Also his good friend, Bill Pangburn and his family of Des Moines. Grave side memorial services were held at 3:00 pm Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser officiated the service. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post No. 8, Denison, Iowa.
