Jamison was born on the 13th day of March, 1830, at Carmichaels, Green County, Pa., and was married to Miss Elizabeth O. Messmore on the 11th day of October 1860, at the same place. To this union were born seven children, of whom five are now living, the two daughters having passed away a number of years ago. The surviving members of the family are all well known to the people of Glasco and surrounding country, and have the heartfelt sympathy of all in this loss of the husband and father who was kind to his family and beloved by all who knew him. He was 73 years, 11 months and 3 days old. The deceased served his country in the war of the Rebellion, having enlisted twice, in Co. A., 22nd Pa., and Co. A., 3rd Prov. Pa. Cav. In the year 1866 the family moved to Missouri, where they resided until the spring of 1873, when they came to Cloud County, Kansas. In the fall of that year he purchased the homestead right of Joseph Fortune, settled on the claim, and resided there until death came on the 16th of February, 1904. He was a sincere Christian and ready to go. He gave many expressions of his hope in Christ, and his life was truly one in which all respected. He was of a quiet turn, and kind to all. He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Glasco, having untied with it in February, 1877, and was always an honor and help to it. Thus passed away a godly and respected husband, father, and friend to all. The funeral occurred on the 17th, services at the home and at the church being conducted by Elder B. F. McMillan, the pastor, and the remains were laid to rest in Glasco cemetery. Although the day was stormy and cold a large number attended the services. Thanks of the bereaved family are extended to all who assisted in the sickness and at the funeral.
