Logan for representative in the Fiftysixth Congress of the United States from the Fourth District of Colorado . Up to the time of the Republican congressional assembly held at Salida, his name had not been mentioned for the nomination , but the working 1 Republicans assembled there , in looking over the district for the very best available man to make the race , happily turned to Mr . Logan as the one best equipped for the position . When notified that his name was being considered , he was greatly surprised , as he had no thought whatever of becoming a candidate . However , he was given the nomination unanimously , has accepted , and is now in the contest to be elected . Our candidate was born in Ohio . When a boy he moved to Missouri with his family and was raised in that state . He received his education in Missouri and Nebraska . He was graduated from the State Normal school at Peru , Nebraska , in 1887 . He followed school teaching several years , two of which . were in Mesa County . He was admitted to the Nebraska bar in 1889 , and moved to Grand Junction , Colorado , in 1890 , which place has been his home ever since . He was admitted to the Colorado bar in December , 1893 . He has given special attention to the law of waters , and has been interested in nearly all litigation covering water and water rights in Mesa county since his admission to the bar in this state . He is recognized as an authority on the law of . waters and is one of the leaders of the bar in Western Colorado . He has had a large part in the work of reclaiming and bringing under irrigation a large acreage of the best land in this part of the state . Mr . Logan has never held an elective office and never sought public office . He was county attorney of Mesa county from 1896 to 1902 and again in 1907 and 1908 . He was offered the appointment of county judge of Mesa county on the death of judge Sloan in 1905 , but declined . He was endorsed for district judge by the Republican county convention in 1906 and the delegation instructed for him but declined to have his name considered by tho judicial convention . In 1914 he was designated as one of the regents of the State University , but did not accept the designation . On the fifteenth day of July , this year , he was unanimously nominated for congress by the Republican congressional assembly of this district. ....
