Description	:	Katharina was one of nine children born to Anton and Johannette Katherine (Maus) Scheid. Her mother, Johannette Katherine, was born on Nov. 1, 1807 in Huppert, Duchy of Nassau, Germany, the daughter of Marie Katherine Hennemann and Johann Philipp Maus. Her father, Anton, was born June 18, 1801 at Heistenbach, Germany, the son of Anna Katharine Heck of Holzheim, Germany, and Anton Scheid. Two older brothers, William and John Peter, emigrated to the United States in 1852. Katharina, her parents, and three siblings, Jennetta, Emma and Charles, arrived in 1854. They settled on the farm north of Hunt's Corners, Huron Co., Ohio, and started their family which would come to include 15 children--ten of whom survived to adulthood. Children, in addition to those linked below, were: Adolph Henry (b. 1858) Pauline (b. 1860) Lydia (b. 1861) Mary (b. 1864) Elizabeth (b. 1866) Emma Rebecca (b. 1869) Henry Emanuel (b. 1876) Mattie Louise (b. 1878) From 1868 to 1879, the family lived in Brownhelm, Lorain Co., Ohio where John Henry operated flour and saw mills.
