Had Been a Resident of State 71 Years, and of County for 56 Years One of Chouteau county's oldest residents, in points of years' residence, passed away at St. Clare hospital on Saturday morning when Mrs. Katherine Morrow Frields crossed the great divide after a lingering illness. Mrs. Frields was stricken with a stroke of paralysis on Jan. 1st, 1932, and had never recovered her health, being an invalid since that time. A few days ago she was taken worse and was brought to the local hospital where uremic poisoning set in, which was the direct cause of her death. Mrs. Frields came to Montana in 1863 with her parents and a few years later came to Chouteau county where she has since resided. She was born in Dover, Iowa, on May 10, 1859, and was 75 years, two months and four days old at the time of passing. She was united in marriage to George W. Frields in 1878, and moved soon thereafter to this county. To this union were born four children, Mrs. D. G. Lockwood, Mrs. Lulu M. Deaton, George and David, all of this city. For many years Mr. Frields was engaged in the livestock business near Square Butte, he having passed away in 1916. Until Mrs. Frields was stricken she lived most of her time at the ranch in recent years. They maintained a home in this city for a number of years. Mrs. Frields was well known all over the county and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends that have been built up by her long residence in the county. Besides the children mentioned, Mrs. Frields is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Laura Adams of Great Falls, and Mrs. James Scott of Bremerton, Wash., a number of grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in this city from the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. G. Lockwood, and were conducted by the Rev. J. Leslie Rolls, of Great Falls. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery. The relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in this their great loss.
