Description	:	Kenneth E. Boardman, age 83, of Council Bluffs, passed away September 17, 2011, at UNMC, in Omaha, Neb. Ken was born March 9, 1928, the son of the late Meta Christiansen and was a lifelong resident of Council Bluffs. He served his country in the U.S. Army from March 1946 to September 1947 at the end of WWII. Ken Married Edna Mae Messersmith on June 1, 1952. Ken was born March 9, 1928, the son of the late Meta Christiansen and was a lifelong resident of Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth W. Boardman, on May 24, 2008; sister, Betty Lou McClelland; and brother, Franklin Boardman. Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna Mae Boardman, of Council Bluffs; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jerry Talty, of Papillion, Neb.; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Melody Boardman, of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Adam Boardman, Emily Walters and husband, Casey, Rachel Boardman, Michelle Talty, Jared Talty, Lori Talty, Sarah Talty, Jennifer Bickle and husband, Rick, Katie Boardman, Brianne Boardman; great grandchildren, Lucy Mae Walters and Austin Bickle; daughter-in-law, Jackie Boardman, of Council Bluffs; sisters, Arlene Merksick and Fern Snipes, both of Council Bluffs, Nadine Frauenholtz, of New Ulm, Minn., JoAnne Petrosky, of Salida, Calif.; brother, Paul Christiansen, of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews. He was a great husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Ken will be greatly missed. Visitation with the Family, Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Timothy Lutheran Church. Funeral Service, Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the church with Rev. Michael Petri, pastor officiating. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery with military rites tendered by American Legion Post #2.
