Larry was a member of Corpus Christi-Queen of Apostles Catholic Church. Larry Charles McKern, age 68, of Council Bluffs, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his son, Travis McKern, on September 1, 2005, and also by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rita, of Council Bluffs; children and spouses, Shawn (Sue) McKern, of Greeley, Colo., Michelle McKern, Mark (Wendy) McKern, Mindy McKern, Katie McKern, all of Council Bluffs; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Sonny) Gunter, of Council Bluffs, Connie (Richard) Holly, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Richard (Deb) McKern, Gary (Geri) McKern, all of Council Bluffs; sister, Lynn (Ken) Eckley, of Underwood, Iowa; nieces and nephews. Visitation 6-8 pm Friday, Nov. 28, at Cutler-O'Neill Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, 545 Willow Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA. At 11 am Saturday there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi-Queen of Apostles Campus, 3304 4th Avenue, Council Bluffs. Larry will be laid to rest next to son Travis at Garner Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Cutler-O'Neill Community Room, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
