Mr. Kolar was born Aug. 5,1881 in Kewaunee County, Wis. When he was seven years old his family moved to Pisek, N.D. where he was raised and educated. He was married on Nov. 20,1905, at Pisek to Anna Jestrab' Mr. Kolar was in the meat cutting business in Pisek before coming to Montana to homestead in the fall of 1910. He homesteaded north of Havre and was actively engaged in farming until 1933 when he moved to Havre and opened a grocery store, Kolar Foods, at the site of the present Price Rite Market. He continued with his farming interests until his death. He retired from the grocery business in 1944. He was active in church work and enjoyed hunting. He was a member of St Jude's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Havre Central Roundtable. In November, 1955 he and Mrs. Kolar celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Clark (Grace) Peeler and Mrs. Ted (Lillian) Grant both of Havre; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Krall of Sublimity, Ore., Mrs. Lane Meyers of Chinook and Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson of Oakhurst, Calif.; four brothers Albert of Geyser, Frank of Great Falls, and Joseph and John both of Pisek; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. One daughter preceded him in death in infancy.
