Description	:	Leroy Andrew Neff, lumberman, was born in Willis Kan., Sept. 10, 1891, son of William Andrew and Ola May (Harpster) Neff. His father, a merchant, was born in DeGraffe, Ohio, March 10, 1865, and died at Gentry, Ark., Jan. 10, 1926. Ola May Neff was born in Union Star, Mo., May 18, 1870. Leroy graduated high school in 1912 and served two years as chauffeur for Congressman Dan Anthony before entering the lumber business. In the 1930s, he as vice president of the Harpster Lumber Company in Hiawatha, Kan. On Oct. 15, 1919, he married Mildred Neibling at Hiawatha, her birth place. She was born June 1, 1893 and was a music instructor. They had a son, Don Neibling Neff, born Oct. 22, 1924. Leroy served with the 42nd division during World War I and was a member of the American Legion, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the Chamber of Commerce, the Kiowa Club and the Masons. He was a member of the Hiawatha Country Club and was affiliated with the Methodist Church. He died May 8, 1986.
