Read More	Glasco Sun, April 15, 1954, page 1: Funeral Services Monday For Mrs. Linda Smith Mrs. Linda Hare Smith, widow of the late Hoy Smith who was editor of the Clyde Republican for almost 20 years, died Thursday, April 8th, at Halstead hospital where she was a patient. Mrs. Smith had been ill several years. Mrs. Smith was born in Glasco September 28, 1883, and attended Glasco schools. She was married to Hoy Smith at Salina July 7, 1916. They lived at Greenleaf from 1916 to 1926, where Mr. Smith was editor of the Sentinel. They moved to Clyde in 1926 when Mr. Smith bought the Republican. After Mr. Smith's death in 1948, she continued to make her home in Clyde for about two and one-half years, moving to Glasco in 1951. Mrs. Smith was secretary for the telephone company in Glasco for 17 years, later operating the linotype machine in the newspaper enterprises in which she and her husband were engaged. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Christian church and Order of Eastern Star at Clyde, and P.E.O. Research Club. Surviving are two brothers, P.M. Hare of Toronto, and Ross Hare of Glasco; a sister, Mrs. Mattie H. Lewis of Wichita, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Smith residence in Glasco Monday afternoon, April 12, 1954, conducted by the Rev. C. Cray Jones of the Topeka Methodist Home. Music was by Mrs. Fred Harper and Mrs. Howe Jordan, accompanied by Mrs. E.V. Plush. Casketbearers were John Louthan, Forrest Williamson, Joe Davidson, Yens Asmussen, Dale Stricklett and Lester Stricklett.
