Death came at 10 o'clock p.m. Jan. 3 for the girl who had not been able to attend a full year of school since she was in the seventh grade, but who nevertheless had ranked among the best of her class scholastically. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church, with an overflow crowd in attendance. The Rev. Robert Laird was in charge. Music was furnished by the high school girls' sextet, as follows: Georgie Lorentz, Colleen Warner, Chloe Withrow, Regis Packer, Annabelle Blincow, and Virginia Golus. Pallbearers were Gary Cortner, Henry Wilson Jr., Richard Larimer, Dale Lewandowski, Merl Badura, Marty Badura, Kent Sherman, and Bob Rademacher. Honorary pallbearers were Bonnie Tucker, Alice Lynn Swanson, Shirley Moeller, Shirley Bazant, Georgie Lorentz, Lois Miller, Betty John, and Mershonne Knecht. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Lois Ella Paige was born Aug. 25, 1935, to Alonzo and Hazel Paige on a farm in the Austin community. At the time of her death she was 16 years, four months, and nine days of age. She attended the Loup City public schools, after one year in Dist. 13, and took active part in all school functions whenever her health permitted until she entered the hospital Dec. 3. Unable to attend school in her junior year because of her illness, Lois nevertheless kept up with her class through correspondence and home study. She was the Loup City high school candidate for Miss Harvest of Harmony at the Grand Island Fall Festival last October, and was a grid princess at the annual Grid Dance in November. She held a number of offices in various school organizations, including the vice-presidency of the Pep Club and co-editor of the school paper this year. Christened in the Austin Presbyterian church in infancy, she joined the Loup City Presbyterian church on Palm Sunday 1947. She was a member of the Westminster Fellowship and was treasurer of the Youth Budget. She was a delegate last summer to the Youth Synod of the Westminster Fellowship and attended the week-long meetings at Hastings. She is survived by her parents and three brothers, James, Alonzo, Jr., and Alan; her grandfathers, P.G. Paige of Loup City and James Thomazin of Kansas City; her uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nelson and Elbridge Paige, Loup City; Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Ambrose, Corvallis, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Paige, Grand Island; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Thomazin, Seneca, Mo.; LaVerna McClean, Kansas City; a great-aunt, Mrs. Florence Daddow, of Yoder, Wyo., and seven cousins.
