Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Loup City Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas DeNeui officiating. Interment and military rites were at the Evergreen Cemetery. Music was provided by soloist Mrs. Jack Charlton who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled" with Mrs. Clark Plants as accompanist. Casketbearers were Sam Porter, Rich Peters, Jack Charlton, Robert Harrington, Tom Ryan, Eldon Kieborz, Douglas Pospisil, and Eugene Schneberger. Visitation was held Sunday from 1 until 9 p.m. at the Loup City Memorial Funeral Home. Lonnie was born Aug. 24, 1912, near Austin, to Park Greenwalt and Josephine Talbot Paige. He attended Loup City High School and Hastings College. On March 14, 1935, he married Hazel Thomazin at Loup City. He entered the Army in January, 1944 and served during World War II until his discharge in November, 1945. He was in the retail clothing business for 19 years, part of that time as owner of the Paige Family Store. He traveled for the Fairfield Glove Company, Fairfield, Iowa for 23 years, from April, 1957 until March, 1980. He was retired at the time of his death. Mr. Paige was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Loup City, a charter member of the Ord Lodge No. 2371 B.P.O.E., the American Legion Post 48, and the V.F.W. Post No. 7027 both of Loup City. Survivors include his wife Hazel of Loup City; three sons, James of Wayne, Alonzo, Jr. (Butch) of Rapid City, S.D. and Alan of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Florence Nelson of Washougal, Wash., and Ruth Franseth of Red Bluff, Calif., and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lois; his parents; two brothers, Harold and Elbridge, and his grandson, Craig. Memorials are suggested to the Library or the Hospital.
