Description	:	County Supervisor Louis Smith, a well known and highly respected resident of this community for many years passed away at the St Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown this (Wednesday) morning. Mr Smith was taken to the hospital on November 20, suffering from a carbuncle on his neck cause by diabetes. His condition at that time was considered serious and he grew steadily weaker until his death. Mr Smith was born in Minerva township, where he resided all of his life. Read More	County Supervisor Louis Smith, a well known and highly respected resident of this community for many years passed away at the St Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown this (Wednesday) morning. Mr Smith was taken to the hospital on November 20, suffering from a carbuncle on his neck cause by diabetes. His condition at that time was considered serious and he grew steadily weaker until his death. Mr Smith was born in Minerva township, where he resided all of his life. His popularity among his friends and the high regard by the fact that he served as president of the State Center Farmers Creamery for several years, was a member of the board of trustees of Minerva township for several terms, served as treasurer of the Minerva school district and was elected to the county board of supervisors in 1928, and was re-elected last year to the term beginning on January 1, 1932. Mr Smith was married to Miss Emma Eckhardt on April 11, 1887 at the French Grove Lutheran church, and to this union eight children were born, seven of whom survive their father. They are Mrs Wilbur Nolta, Mrs Albert Pfantz, Mrs Arthur Humbert, Albert Smith, Mrs Earl Funke and Mrs Raymond Buschbom of this community and Mrs Elmer Hilleman of Marshalltown. Mr Smith is also survived by two sisters, Mrs A H Boehm of Ogden and Mrs H L Hartwig of this city. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at St John's Lutheran church, north of this city, Rev Wm J Zabel, pastor of the church will conduct the services, with burial in the church cemetery.
