Description	:	Mrs Louise Smith, widow of the late Henry L Smith, died at her home, three and one-half miles northwest of State Center at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning, February 25. Her death was due to the infirmities of old age. Mrs Smith had lived in Marshall county for more than half a century. She was born at Oldendorf, Hanover, Germany, July 7, 1841, being the daughter of William and Louise Bode. Read More	Mrs Louise Smith, widow of the late Henry L Smith, died at her home, three and one-half miles northwest of State Center at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning, February 25. Her death was due to the infirmities of old age. Mrs Smith had lived in Marshall county for more than half a century. She was born at Oldendorf, Hanover, Germany, July 7, 1841, being the daughter of William and Louise Bode. She came to this country in 1859 first settling in Kendall county, Illinois, where she lived until 1861, when she came to this county and settled in what is known as the French Grove community north of State Center. She was married in Marshalltown May 21, 1864 to Henry L Smith and moved to the homestead northwest of town where both died. Mr Smith having preceded her on January 13, 1911. They were the parents of six children, four of whom are living. They are Louis and W A and Mrs Minnie Hartwig of this place and Mrs Mary Boehm of Ogden. Mrs Smith also is survived by one sister, Mrs Henry Oehlsen, who lives north of town. Mrs Smith was of a quiet, humble nature, making a true, loving mother and a desirable neighbor. She was reared a Lutheran and died a faithful and consistent member of the French Grove church. Funeral services will be conducted at the French Grove church tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock by the pastor, Rev Henry Markworth. Interment will following in the church cemetery. February 27, 1913 State Center Enterprise.
