Lyle Mclnnis, Sr., a well known and esteemed farmer of Westfield Township, passed away in the Akron Hospital on Thursday evening, March 21, 1967, of a heart attack, at the age of 58-years, 1 month-and 25 days. Lyle Mclnnis, Sr., a well known and esteemed farmer of Westfield Township, passed away in the Akron Hospital on Thursday evening, March 21, 1967, of a heart attack, at the age of 58-years, 1 month-and 25 days. Lyle Mclnnis was born in Westfield township January 25, 1899, the eldest son of Murdock and Hortense Mclnnis, early day residents of Western Plymouth County. While-growing to young manhood in this community he did road construction work and chose farming as his occupation. Oh May 21, 1923, he was united in marriage with Miss Violet Jones, and two daughters, Joyce and Bonnie, and two sons, Lyle, Jr., and A. Bruce, came to bless this union He was baptized in the First Church of Christ, of Akron, August 25, 1940 of which he was a faithful servant, having served as deacon on the official board, and presently was a member of the board of trustees. In and out of church Mr. McInnis was a man of sterling character, a lover of his family, and his grandchildren, whom he oftentimes spent hours holding them in his arms. He held his church and family uppermost in his life. He will be sorely missed in the home, as a friend and neighbor in the community, and in the positions in the church where he had made a wide circle of friends and comrades of Christian faith. Those left to mourn his departure are his wife, Violet; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Zalonka, of Roswell, New Mexico, and Mrs. Bonnie Ludwigs, of Sioux City, Ia.; two sons, Lyle Jr., of Akron, and A. Bruce of Hawarden, Ia.; three brothers, John, of Akron; Theodore and Hector, of Sioux City; four sisters, Mrs. Josie Hummel and Mrs. Hannah Wiesenberger, of Sioux City; Mrs. Grace Rockelman, of Hawarden, and Mrs. Mae Jones, of Jefferson, S.D.; eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Lula Gilbert, and a granddaughter, Dawn McInnis. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p. m. at the First Church of Christ, Rev. G. W. Swan officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Klemme sang "The City Four Square", and "Beyond the Sunset," with Mrs. V. G. Adams at the piano. Acting as pallbearers were six nephews; Sterling McInnis, Jack McInnis, Duane Jones, Ray Olson, Dewey Maynard and Wayne Riherd. Honorary pall bearers were; Albert Elliott, Hebe Cummins, Henry Frerichs, Chas. Hendricks, Lloyd Searls and Anders Jannsen. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
