| Description | : | Major Horatio B. Lowry, was a Quartermaster of the US Marine Corps, who entered the service in 1861. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant, September 16, 1861, and promoted First Lieutenant, November 26, 1861. His first duty station was the Marine Barracks, Washington, DC, in 1861. He was distinguished in the operations of the Marine Corps in naval movements during the Civil War. He was promoted to Captain on October 16, 1869, and served at the Marine Barracks in Philadelphia from 1870 to 1872.
