Owens was born in Clay county, Indiana, September 6, 1850. She was married to William C. Longman December 25, 1873, and passed from this life at her home in Chicago, June 18, 1920. Such is the brief history of a well known and greatly beloved woman who was laid to rest in Logan cemetery Tuesday, June 22. She was the mother of seven children, one of whom passed away in infancy. The remaining six are E.D. Longman, Riverton, Iowa, A.M. Longman, Eagle, Nebraska, E.H. Longman, Richland Center, Wisconsin, C.W. Longman, Chicago, A.G. Longman, Chicago, and Mrs. R.L. McQuary, South Bend, Indiana. Until the year 1902 she had lived in and near Logan, but in that year the family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, in order that the children might have better educational advantages. Her girlhood days as well as a large part of her married life was spent in this county and she had many friends over the county. She was a loving, faithful wife and mother, doing her full duty to her family and always an enthusiastic church worker and identified with other good works. The husband, W.C. Longman passed away September 14, 1908, at Lincoln, Nebraska, and was laid to rest in Logan cemetery. She had enjoyed good health in general until the last lingering trouble during the past four months, which required a surgical operation and her death followed. A good woman, loved friend and neighbor has gone from the earth life to be missed and mourned by a large family of relatives and many friends. The funeral service was held at the Christian church here Tuesday , and attended by a large number of friends, gathered to show their respect.
