RILEY MAXWELL DIES. ~~In the death of Mrs. Riley Maxwell in this city last Saturday night, a husband and six children are left to mourn her demise. Mrs. Maxwell had not been strong for many months, but the serious symptoms did not develop until about Christmas time. She was given the best of medical treatment, and was finally brought to the city a few weeks ago in order that her physician could visit her more frequently. But as the days passed complications set in for which there could be no relief, and the end came peacefully about the midnight hour last Saturday. The direct cause of her death was tuberculosis of a gland directly over the kidneys. ~~In this, the greatest sorrow that has come to them, the husband and children will have the sympathy of the entire community. The death of this good wife and mother is a hard blow for them. She whom the children have looked to for sympathy, aid and support, and who has done for her full share in making the home a happy one, will no longer minister to their needs. She has gone from them never more to return, and it is difficult to understand why she should be taken just at a time when she was so much needed. ~~Margaret O'Connell was born in Dubuque county, Iowa, in October 1873 and would have been thirty-seven years old next October. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John O'Connell, formerly of Clay county, later of Kalispell, Mont. She was married July 15, 1896 to Riley Maxwell, and to the union were born seven children, six of whom, with the father, survive. The children are May, Madalene, Frank, Fred, Lourice and Dora. Her mother and four brothers, Will, Joe, Frank and Louis, also mourn her death.. ~~Funeral services were held from St. Agnes church, Vermillion, Monday forenoon, and the remains were interred in the Catholic burying ground in Fairview township.. ~~~~CARD OF THANKS - We desire to express our sincere thanks to the many kind friends who so generously aided in numerous ways during the sickness of our loved one, and after death.
