The Atchison Daily Globe, Friday, October 23, 1936 Mrs. Margaret V. Duncan, a resident of Atchison county for 57 years, died at 10 o'clock this morning at her home 1109 Santa Fe street, following a long illness. Death was due to a general breakdown and heart ailment. Harouff & Buis are in charge of funeral arrangements. Born at Maysville, Kentucky, June 20, 1867, Mrs. Duncan was the daughter of Matthias and Catherine Clark. She came to Kansas with her parnts at the age of 12 in May, 1879. On April 23, 1890, she was married to John E. Duncan at the St. Louis parish church. Mr. Duncan was station agent for the Missouri Pacific at Shannon from 1887 until his death in November, 1922. Following Mr. Duncan's death, the family removed from Shannon to Atchison in 1925. Mrs. Duncan had a host of friends in Atchison and througout the county. She was a good mother and reared a splendid familuy of chidren. Home loving, friendly and congenial, she was greatly beloved by all. She led a charitable and Christian life and was a communicant of Sacred Heart church. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. William Wolters of Atchison, and Miss Margaret, Bernadette and Dorthy Duncan of the home; one son, John M. Duncan, Elkhart Ind.; two brothers, James E. Clark of Effingham and Joe P. Clark of Atchison, and 11 grandchildren. The Atchison Daily Champion, 97 Oct 1914, Wed, Page 6 Society: Mrs. Duncan's Dinner. Miss Anna Fowler's name was unintentionally left out of the list of guests, at the country dinner given by Mrs. J. E. Duncan, Sunday night. The Menu was so elaborate and so well served, that the guests are still talking about it.
